walk - listen - notice Time/Day: 9.00am - 4.00pm Saturday 14 September 2024 Location: Perth Hills Facilitator: Sharon Cooke with Joe Courtney Cost: Free Join us on a day walk in the Perth hills in the season of Djilba. We will walk a little differently than normal: not rushing to get to our destination but adopting gratitude and wonder as our guides. This will mean stopping frequently to engage deeply with our surroundings, listening to what it might mean for us and sharing with those around us. Walk of approximately 12km (TBC) on uneven tracks requiring a moderate degree of fitness. BYO lunch and water. |
The soul is like a wild animal – tough, resilient, savvy, self-sufficient, and yet exceedingly shy. If we want to see a wild animal, the last thing we should do is go crashing through the woods, shouting for the creature to come out. But if we are willing to walk quietly into the woods and sit silently for an hour or two at the base of a tree, the creature we are waiting for may well emerge, and out of the corner of an eye we will catch a glimpse of the precious wilderness we seek.
